Speech tournament of champions representatives.

Five Fairmont students competed this past weekend at the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions (NIETOC) held at Shakopee High School, joining thousands of students from across the country in one of the nation’s premier speech competitions. Each speech category featured nearly 200 to 250 competitors over two days of competition.

Junior Allie Streit advanced to the Quarterfinal Round in Informative Speaking and finished 25th overall.

Junior Leon Yang advanced to the Final Round in Humorous Interpretation and earned a 3rd place finish. This marks Leon’s second consecutive year reaching the NIETOC finals after placing 4th last year.

Congratulations to all of the Fairmont students who represented the school at this outstanding event.

Coming up in June, Leon Yang, Belinda Lutterman, and Allie Streit will travel to Richmond, Virginia to compete at one of the largest national speech tournaments in the country.
