Students from Ms. Simmering's Writing class at FHS attended the South Central Service Cooperative (SCSC) Young Author's Reception at Minnesota State University at Mankato on Tuesday evening. These students were honored on stage by participating in the writing contest and by having their poems and non-fiction research writing selected and printed in the SCSC anthology. They were recognized in front of an audience of other contest winners, family, friends, and educators. The poem entitled, "Got You Covered," by one student, Ian Covarrubias, was selected by the Judges for a special Award for his unique topic and creativity.
