Kandice Amundson - Art Teacher

About Me:

I will often introduce myself to my classes as an Artist teaching art. Yes I have a degree in K-12 Art Education along with a Masters in Education but I consider myself an artist that loves to teach. I enjoy working alongside my students while they explore new art techniques and love it when I make them think outside the box. It is my job to help them grow and individual artists that they are. I believe that everyone is an artist in his or her own way and it is my job to help that individual discover what "type" of artist they are. I have had only a handful of students throughout my career that have been able to say they can do every medium (material the artwork is made out of). An artist may be a wonderful drawer but feels they lack the talent in clay, but how do they know only because the project they did in elementary didn't turn out well. I push students to do their best and grow through their art. I welcome each and every challenge and hope that the students come out of my class with an understanding of how to problem solve and think creatively and not just "logically".

My Gradebook/ Online Resources:

Art Syllabi

95 % of the time an * is entered in the gradebook means that I did not grade that project yet. The other 5% is an extenuating circumstance the student has brought to my attention. Was absent when finishing or handing in the project- and parents will be upset if it is a zero. Grounding them for life. Etc

Resources can be found on my Schoology page. It may look a little different than a core class but the students know where and how to get to them.
